KUNSTHAL 44 MØEN
Contemporary International Art
Kunsthal 44 Møen is a an international exhibition site based on a long-standing collaboration between Møn based artists such as Bjørn Nørgaard, Ursula Reuter Christiansen, the deceased composer and Fluxus-artist Henning Christiansen and international actors connected with the FLUXUS-movement, together with the German curator and art-collector René Block. Exactly those artists founded Kunstforeningen 44 Møen, who created Kunsthal 44 Møen in 2008 and now runs the exhibition site, which is a former garage, renovated and turned into a modern exhibition space.
Kunsthal 44 Møen got the “Danish Art Critics Award” in 2010 and the Building and Landscape Architecture Association Møn presented an award to Kunsthal 44 Møen for its architectural design and how it meets the demands of contemporary art.
Since the inaugural exhibition Imagine Mønhattan, the exhibition programme continues to feature reflections on major avant-garde movements of the 20th century such as FLUXUS and Conceptual art. Besides the Danish artists Lene Adler Petersen, Bjørn Nørgaard and Jytte Høy, international artists such as Mona Hatoum, Ursula Reuter Christiansen, Asta Gröting, Maja Bajevic, Maria Eichhorn, A K Dolven, Kim Sooja, Alicja Kwade, Nasar Tur, Cildo Meireles and Sonja Rentsch have been presented in widely noted solo exhibitions.
